SaveArtSpace x ComposingDetroit is proud to present In|Divisible, a public art exhibition on ad space in Detroit, MI opening April 3, 2026, curated by ComposingDetroit.
The vertical bar in In|Divisible acts as both a connector and divider as it represents the tension between separation and wholeness, marking the space where that difference exists while also highlighting what binds us together. The vertical bar splits the word visually, yet, it remains whole, re-enforcing the idea that even in division, unity persists. It acts as a visual pause that allows the viewer to consider boundaries, relationships, and ultimately connection.
In|Divisible is an ad-space-based exhibition that utilizes photography as its primary medium, paired with subtle graphic and textual interventions. The works are designed to be read individually yet understood collectively, mirroring how division and unity operate simultaneously; often appearing separate but functioning within shared systems. By distributing the work across multiple public sites, the project reflects its concept further by creating a shared system that showcases unity and division operating as a whole.
Concepts that represent unity:
Bridges, handshakes, people coming together, similar colors in one composition
Leading lines that connect, shadows that touch, reflections merging
Repetition, similar patterns
Symmetrical compositions
Concepts that represent division:
Barriers, fences, fragmentations, breaks, dividers, etc
Split compositions with stark contrast
Political, civic, etc
Isolation, absence, negative space
Silhouettes
Abstract and conceptual work is welcome as well, curation is not rigid, we are looking to highlight various forms of interpretation of the theme.
Additional technique suggestions: Multiple exposure, long exposure, diptych/triptych
Curation: Dependent on work received, work from different artists may be selected and displayed together (side by side, interweaved, stacked, etc) This furthers the concept of In|Divisible by creating a shared system of artists exhibiting together, showcasing unity.
We invite artists of all ages and talents to submit their artwork between January 6 and February 16, 2026 in order to be considered for the exhibition. This is an opportunity to have your work placed on ad space in Detroit, MI.
The application fee is $30 for three images; each additional image carries a $10 fee. Fees support the production of the exhibition, including the purchase of billboard ad space. All fees paid to SaveArtSpace are 100% tax deductible donations.
Selected artists will be announced after March 2, 2026. Public art will be on view starting April 3, 2026 in Detroit, MI, and will be on view for at least one month.
