SaveArtSpace and is pleased to present “Flower Bomb Fest” a public art exhibition curated by Chris Pyrate. The selected exhibiting artists are Marly McFly, and Trap Bob. The selected artists will be exhibited on ad space, along with Chris Pyrate.

During the week of August 24, SaveArtSpace will launch public art installations for each selected artist artwork on bus stop ad spaces throughout DC. These locations will be on view for at least one month.

Founded in 2015, SaveArtSpace is a non-profit organization that works to create an urban gallery experience, launching exhibitions that address intersectional themes and foster a progressive message of social change. By placing culture over commercialism, SaveArtSpace aims to empower artists from all walks of life and inspire a new generation of young creatives and activists.


Curator

Chris Pyrate, Black Lives Matter

Location: 20th St NW & P St NW

DC-Born & raised, international muralist, Chris Pyrate, is like his work; multidimensional and a creative disruption. As an internationally-renown muralist, streetwear designer, curator and vocalist. He has tapped into an array of industries converging his skills into pure talent that profoundly influences the masses. Born in the South East quadrant of Washington DC, Chris attended The Art Institute of Washington where he pursued music concurrently with his true passion for art, followed by stints of basing in both Brooklyn and Miami until returning home in 2019 to help forster the burgeoning creative scene in DC.

He honed his skills doing storyboarding, major brand apparel design, publication illustrations in New York , painting murals in Miami’s Wynwood Art District, and curating for Miami Art Basel. With a hyper-detailed but stylized approach to linework, Pyrate’s art recalls that of beloved comic book artists Moebius, Geof Darrow and Frank Quietly.

He’s recently released a shoe design with Nike and is opening his second gallery.

Marly McFly, Bloom

Location: Connecticut Ave NW & Q St NW

Marly McFly is a self-taught artist from Newport News, VA. He began pursuing his passion for art as a child drawing everything from cartoons, comics, action figures and athletes.

Drawing influences from his surroundings, he incorporates the ever changing world of pop culture into his work, expressing his inner thoughts and experiences.  These are captured through layers of bright bold colours and patterns coupled with popular and relevant images from his childhood which are utilised to express himself.

His work is the perfect mix of two prolific genres of contemporary art; pop and urban street art and has successfully exhibited in major international markets including New York, Paris and Tokyo, to name a few.

Trap Bob, Fight The Power

Location: Connecticut Ave NW & Dupont Cir NW

Tenbeete Solomon AKA Trap Bob is a visual artist, illustrator, and animator based in Washington, DC. She is known for her use of bold colors and gestures to convey both the humor and struggles of everyday life. Her work is socially conscious and frequently inspired by activism and community issues, with an aim to bridge the gap between her audience and her message.
